NH Research 4700-3 DC Electronic Load
Designed to perform a wide range of electronic loading applications, the NH Research 4700-3 DC Electronic Load is a versatile 3 kW electronic load system. It performs well both as a standalone, bench-top arrangement and in automated test stations. It is perfect for evaluating power conversion and storage equipment such as telecom rectifiers, batteries, and DC power supplies. This load is especially appropriate for applications needing full current at low voltages, fast-transient modeling, and thorough internal measurements.
The 4700-3 supports voltages between 1 and 120 volts and a maximum current of 600 amps. With an accuracy of 0.12% + 0.06% and a resolution of 0.0015%, it can measure current in the 60A and 600A current ranges. With an accuracy of 0.01% + 0.02% and a precision of 0.0015%, the DC voltage ranges that are offered are 6.6V, 66V, and 166V. The voltage and current accuracy of a power measurement are added, and the power resolution is set at 0.0015% of the range.
With its wide, touch-panel enabled graphical user interface (GUI), the 4700-3 allows simple manual control. Alternatively, it may be controlled remotely using popular test programming languages. The load is provided with LabVIEW VIs, a SCPI command reference handbook, and IVI-C/IVI-COM for external connection over LAN. To increase testing flexibility and efficiency, optional software tools including the DC Load Sequencer, emPowerTM Test Executive, and EnerchronTM Test Management Software are available.
The electronic load weights 75 pounds (34 kg) and has physical dimensions of 267 x 483 x 559 mm (10.5 x 19 x 22 inches). The remote sensing capabilities of the machine permit a maximum voltage drop of 2 VDC between the sense and load input terminals. In addition, the 4700-3 has a power-up self-test that verifies the condition of the control, protection, input, and output circuits. Internal overvoltage, overcurrent, and overtemperature situations are prevented by continuous performance monitoring. All calibration is done automatically, with software making the necessary modifications and EEPROM storing the results.
